Petrol heads draw a line in the sand for a quad biking adventure with a twist

With only a GPS as their guide drivers pit their wits against the elements, navigating through checkpoints hidden amid the shifting sands for the twelfth annual ‘Transfennec Quad Bike Raid’.

From 8 - 12 November 2009, teams of off-roaders will flock from around the globe to tackle the famously unforgiving dunes of Tunisia’s Golden South.

Adding to this unique experience is the opportunity for contestants to live like a Berber as they spend the night camped beneath the stars, enjoying the sense of tranquillity only the Sahara can provide.

The continued international appeal of Transfennec 2009 is in no small part down to the breathtaking terrain the South of Tunisia provides.

Home to a heady mix of vibrant cultures and incredible adventure, more and more British holidaymakers are unlocking the region’s true potential, engaging in once-in-a-lifetime activities that range from camel trekking through to paragliding and hot air ballooning.

At only a two-and-a-half hour flight from London, Tunisia, the ‘Jewel of the Mediterranean’ once again confirms its status as the must visit destination for 2009.
