Kerkennah Islands

The tranquil Kerkennah Islands are reached by ferry from Sfax and are totally unspoilt. They are a little Eden of deserted beaches, where the only noise is the lapping of the ocean.

In the islands’ villages, made up of narrow, winding streets, the local inhabitants are always pleased to see visitors, and their welcome is unfailingly warm and genuine.

Getting around: Try cycling or hire a moped, both are the easiest and best ways to travel as there is hardly any traffic and the islands are entirely flat.

Don’t miss

The islands’ gastronomic speciality – octopus served in a delicious local sauce.

Watching waders in the Kerkennahs’ shallow waters.
