Both the original Star Wars and The Phantom Menace were filmed in and around the Sidi Driss hotel, of the Mamata village. Most famously perhaps as the home of Luke Skywalker.

The Sidi Driss is a 5 pit dwelling of underground labyrinths and vaulted rooms. Parts of the Star Wars set still exists in the hotel.

It is said that film Director George Lucas named the mythical planet Tatooine after the southern Tunisian city of Tatouine, spelled differently but pronounced the same.

Djerba, with its quaint white houses and colorful scenery is home to three Star Wars destinations.

The town of Ajim is located towards the South of Houmt Souk. The sponge-fishing town was the location for Mos Eisley in the original Star Wars. Sidi Jemour (Toshi Station), is where the scenes of Obi-Wan and Luke entering the town of Mos Eisley were filmed. Drive a few kilometers north you will also find Obi-Wan kenobi's hut.

Raiders of the Lost Ark was set in Egypt — all the archaeological digging scenes and those nasty bits with the snakes in particular. Its commonly thought that these scenes where shot in Cario, near the Pyramids. However director Steven Spielberg actually shot them here in Tozeur and the city of Kairouan, not far from many of the Star Wars locations.
